Lake level continues to drop; little change in drought coverage, intensity

The northwestern portion of Hall County remains among the driest places in the state, according to this week’s report from the U.S. Drought Monitor (USDM).

That area, bordering White, Lumpkin, and parts of Dawson and Forsyth counties, is considered “severely” dry, which is true of most of northeast Georgia, while “moderately” dry conditions blanket the rest of the county.

Thirteen percent of the state remains drought-free. Those counties are clustered in belt through the middle of Georgia extending from Augusta-to-Macon-to-Columbus.

Meanwhile, the level of Lake Lanier is down a third-of-a-foot from a week ago and sits at 1066.1.
