UPDATE 2:15 PM THURSDAY:
The driver of the truck told the state patrol his brakes failed as he exited I-985 and began a turn onto Old Cornelia Highway. He was charged with defective equipment, too fast for conditions, and failure to maintain lane.
UPDATE 8.P.M.: HALL CO. FIRE RESCUE (HCFR) FACEBOOK POST:
“Around 5:00 pm this afternoon, personnel from A-Shift responded to Old Cornelia Hwy for reports of an overturned commercial vehicle carrying large logs.
On arrival, crews found multiple logs blocking the road way and a small diesel leak underneath the vehicle.
Crews quickly utilized Petroleum Absorbent Pigs/Pads and Oil Dry Absorbent to soak up the remainder of the leak.”
The driver was unharmed and the accident did not affect any other drivers.”
