Oakwood road rage leads to one arrest

A prolonged case of road rage Monday afternoon ended with no injuries and one arrest, according to Oakwood Police.

OAKWOOD POLICE NARRATIVE:

“(About 2:15) Officers responded to the area of Winder Hwy at Atlanta Hwy for a report of a road rage incident.

Upon arrival, Officers made contact with the victim who stated that he was reversing out of a parking space in the Kroger parking lot at 4025 Winder Hwy when a male subject and his son approached his vehicle and accused him almost hitting them. 

A verbal argument ensued with the suspect (later identified as Scott Dent, 54, Flowery Branch) eventually threatening to beat his a–. The suspect then stuck the victim’s vehicle with his hands.

The suspect lifted his shirt to reveal what appeared to be a handgun located in the male subject’s waistband and yelled ‘I’ll kill you’ at the victim. Both parties showed each other their middle finger, then the victim left the parking lot.

The suspect chased the victim’s vehicle down and stopped in from of him.   The suspect jumped of his vehicle and approached the victim’s vehicle. The suspect threatened to beat the victim’s a– again. The victim said he was in fear for his life, drove off and continued westbound on Winder Hwy.

The victim was in the right turn lane waiting to turn on Atlanta Hwy from Winder Hwy. The suspect pulled up to the victim’s vehicle again, got out of his vehicle holding a long black metal object and struck the victim’s front and rear windows on the driver’s side.

The suspect eventually fled the area, and the victim called 911 in reference to the incident. 

(On Tuesday about 4:00) the suspect came to the Oakwood Police Department and turned himself in to Officers.”

Dent was charged with aggravated assault and aggressive driving.
