The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners recently recognized the county’s Risk Management Office for receiving the Entity Achievement Award from the Georgia Public Risk Management Association.
The award honors the county’s “innovative” use of opioid settlement funds to advance public safety initiatives across county facilities. The project paired lifesaving naloxone nasal spray (Narcan) with 76 automated external defibrillators located throughout county offices and public‑serving buildings.
Officials said the initiative broadens access to overdose reversal medication, increases its visibility in high‑traffic areas and strengthens the county’s ability to respond quickly during opioid‑related emergencies.
In support of the effort, Forsyth County expanded emergency preparedness through staff training. In 2025, 760 county employees completed Narcan compliance training, ensuring personnel across departments are equipped to respond effectively during medical emergencies.
Commissioners commended the Risk Management office for its commitment to safeguarding employees and the public, calling the award a reflection of Forsyth County’s proactive and forward‑thinking risk management strategies.
