Ga. drought coverage, intensity virtually unchanged from a week ago; lake level, too

There has been very little change in the status of the drought in Georgia over the past seven days, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor (USDM) and the level of Lake Lanier is about the same, as well.

Most of Hall County remains “moderately” dry (1 on a scale of 0-4) while about a third of the county, bordering Forsyth, Dawson, Lumpkin, and White counties is still considered “severely” dry (2 on the 0-4 scale).

Elsewhere, drought-free conditions prevail in 14% of the state along a line from Augusta-to-Macon-to-Columbus. Click here for a full report: Georgia | U.S. Drought Monitor

The level of the lake was at 1066.2 Thursday, a tenth-of-a-foot higher than a week ago.
