Eighteen Georgia hospitals – including North Georgia Medical Center Habersham – have been awarded federal grants through the Rural Hospital Provider Assistance Program.
The purpose of the grants, according to the Health Resources & Services Administration, is to help eligible small rural hospitals maintain their medical workforce, sustain essential healthcare services, and strengthen access to care for the communities they serve. Nearly $30 million is being made available to 132 hospitals in 13 states. That translates to just under $190,000 each.
In addition to the Habersham hospital, others on the list in our corner of the state are Stephens County in Toccoa and Union General in Blairsville.
