Jackson Co.’s Eden Pethel does it again

Already having received accolades for designing Georgia’s commemorative license plate celebrating America’s 250th anniversary, Jackson County’s Eden Pethel finds herself in the spotlight again. This time on the national stage.

Pethel, an eighth grader from Pendergrass, is a winner of the Bookmark Design Challenge: Celebrating America’s 250th, a nationwide competition organized by Second Lady Usha Vance in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.

“Winning both a state and a nationwide competition for America 250 designs is a remarkable achievement, one that is a testament to Eden’s creativity, artistic skills, and love of country,” Congressman Andrew Clyde (R-Jackson County said during a recent meeting with Pethel. “As we celebrate America’s 250th birthday, there is no better reminder of the bright future ahead than the next generation of Americans expressing their patriotism through art. Congratulations, Eden — the entire Ninth District is incredibly proud of you!”

EARLIER STORY. POSTED APRIL 11: The Jackson County Commission (JCC) this week approved a resolution honoring county resident Eden Pethel for designing Georgia’s commemorative license plate celebrating America’s 250th Anniversary. Pethel’s design is featured as part of Georgia’s official “America 250” license plate, which is now available to Georgia drivers when registering a new vehicle or renewing an existing registration. “Eden’s creative design reflects our nation’s founding and Georgia’s role in the Revolutionary War, making this achievement even more special,” the resolution reads in part.
