Habitat for Humanity of Hall County has been approved for a one-million-dollar federal grant for use in building new affordable housing in Gainesville. The announcement was made by Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-Ga.)
The organization is planning to build a new home development in the city, and the money will enable Habitat to complete the surveying and water sources for each home and build the first three homes.
The money comes from bipartisan government funding legislation that became law on February 3.
“This appropriation is a transformative investment in affordable housing for Hall County. It will allow Habitat for Humanity of Hall County to accelerate the development of safe, stable homes for families who need them most. We witness every day how a home can change the entire trajectory of a family’s life,” said Lila Weaver, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Hall County, adding “we are profoundly grateful…”
