DNR: Be GatorWise; Ga. Tech evacuation; City manager charged with DUI

*As summer begins, alligator sightings are increasing in Georgia, prompting the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to promote GatorWise principles for safety. Alligators are commonly found in cities like Columbus, Macon, and Augusta, especially along and south of the fall line. The reptiles are more active during warmer days, often seen basking or swimming in bodies of water. 13 WMAZ reports

*A gas alarm a Georgia Tech sparks an evacuation Friday. The incident occurred at a research facility on the campus, which had already been evacuated when firefighters arrived. Fox 5 Atlanta reports the cause of the leak was not identified, and hazardous materials technicians assessed the situation. No injuries were reported.  

*The city manager of Nashville, Georgia was cited for driving under the influence while off duty. The city has placed him on administrative leave and is conducting an investigation. 13 WMAZ reports the incident involved violations of speeding, failure to maintain lane, open container, and DUI.
