*The Chattahoochee Riverkeeper is reporting a “significant” fish kill on the Chattahoochee River within a 20-mile stretch directly downstream of Peachtree Creek in Atlanta. “As we continue our investigation, avoid contact with river water that looks muddy or frothy,” according to a Facebook post by the group, which also said it does not impact the popular Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area which is upstream from the kill. The fish kill is believed to have been caused by the torrential rains in the Atlanta area Wednesday which closed sections of the Interstate system because of severe flooding.
*An identification is finally in place for remains discovered at a Georgia lake. It’s been just over 36 years since a decomposed body was found on the shore of West Point Lake in Troup County. DNA advancements finally helped identify the remains as those of Craig Alexander Maddox of Arkansas. The case is considered a homicide.
*The former chief of investigations at the Georgia Department of Revenue is suing the state’s attorney general. Josh Waites claims that Chris Carr attempted to maliciously prosecute him for charges of false statements and forgery four years ago. He also says the AG’s office has helped prevent him from getting other jobs.
*Atlanta is one of the country’s worst cities for traffic. A study conducted by Consumer Affairs lists the Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Roswell zone at number eight nationwide. Los Angeles, Washington, and New York top the list.
