HCSO: Hoschton man free on bond following 100 mph chase

A Hoschton man is free on bonds totaling $8,040 following his arrest last week on almost a dozen charges growing out of a middle of the night, 100 mph chase with a Hall County sheriff’s deputy. The sheriff’s office released details of the incident Monday morning.

HCSO NARRATIVE:

“Just before 3 a.m., Oct. 9…a patrol deputy with the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) was traveling southbound on Skitts Mountain Road near Forrester Driver when she observed a Chevrolet pick-up truck make a U-turn from the northbound shoulder of Skitts Mountain Road. The driver, later identified as 26-year-old Tyler Michael Pritchett, re-entered the roadway, almost striking the patrol vehicle.

The deputy initiated a traffic stop, activating the emergency lights on the patrol vehicle. Instead of stopping, Mr. Pritchett accelerated and fled down Skitts Mountain Road. Believing Mr. Pritchett might be impaired, the deputy followed the truck, clocking the vehicle at more than 100 mph at times.

The pursuit continued to Cornelia Highway (Ga. 365) where Mr. Pritchett made a right hand turn into the southbound lane. The deputy executed a PIT maneuver on Cornelia Highway just south of Lula Road and was able to bring Mr. Pritchett’s vehicle to a stop.

During the course of the pursuit, the HCSO deputy observed Mr. Pritchett run three stop signs, drive on the wrong side of the road multiple times, pass two vehicles in a no-passing zone and run the red light at Lula Road (SR 52) and Cornelia Highway.

Mr. Pritchett was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for evaluation following the PIT maneuver, and he was then (booked) into the Hall County Jail on a felony charge of fleeing and eluding. Additionally, he was charged with the following misdemeanor offenses: running a stop sign (three counts), passing in a no-passing zone (two counts), reckless driving, making a prohibited U-turn, driving on the wrong side of the road and operating a vehicle with an expired tag.”
