A Gainesville man is free on bond again after being arrested a second time for a series of thefts from the Habitat for Humanity of Hall County ReStore.
HCSO NARRATIVE:
“Richard Trent Parker, 43, who was an employee of the business, was first arrested (in February) on a felony charge of theft by conversion. Managers at the business contacted law enforcement after discovering evidence that Mr. Parker had been taking money from daily cash receipts and using the proceeds for personal expenses. The initial Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) investigation determined the thefts occurred between Jan. 1 and Feb. 11…The total thefts amounted to almost $10,000.
Mr. Parker posted a bond of $5,700, and he was released from custody on Feb. 17.
HCSO property crimes investigators continued their investigation into the thefts and determined Mr. Parker had used the business computer on multiple occasions to divert ReStore funds to a personal Cash App account starting on Dec. 18, 2024 until his arrest in February. On April 28, investigators secured a second arrest warrant for felony computer theft.
Mr. Parker was arrested at Colwell Probation Detention Center in Blairsville on (Friday) and transported to the Hall County Jail.”
A spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office said Monday Parker posted another $5,700 bond and was released on Saturday.
