Crowds started gathering early for downtown Gville protest

Crowds began lining some streets downtown and leading into downtown Gainesville this afternoon, well ahead of the scheduled 3:00 start for the No Kings in Northeast Georgia protest, one of about a dozen No Kings rallies planned around Georgia today. That includes at least three others in northeast Georgia: Suwanee (2 rallies) and Dahlonega (1 rally).

They are part of a coordinated nationwide movement in at least 100 cities and towns across the country, at least 100 of them, in protest of many of President Trump’s policies. Most notably the protests are targeting his crackdown on illegal immigrants and sending troops to Los Angeles to help quell violence associated with several days of demonstrations there.

Gainesville’s protest was announced earlier this week for the square 3:00-4:00 today.
