97.5 GLORY FM has learned that the reason Gainesville Police issued an alert Sunday warning of lane closures on Clarks Bridge Road at the rowing venue was because of filming for a TV mini-series.
A document (pictured) dated March 12 from Universal Content Productions in Doraville outlines the schedule starting with prep work that took place last Wednesday and Thursday and Sunday. Monday and Tuesday this week are designated as “film days” 7:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. Monday (approximately) and 11:00 a.m.-1:00 a.m. Tuesday (approximately) and Wednesday as a “wrap” day.
“Murdaugh” is the title of the production and the scenes being filmed at and around the rowing venue depict a boating accident and search and rescue/recovery efforts associated with the a crime that occurred that drew national attention. Filming will take place both on land and on the water.

EARLIER STORY. POSTED SUNDAY NIGHT: Gainesville Police said Sunday to expect lane closures on Clarks Bridge Road at the rowing venue Monday and Tuesday throughout both days and to “please use alternate routes.” No reason was given and the calendar of events for the park shows nothing scheduled for those days.
