The University System of Georgia (USG) generated an economic impact of about $25 billion in the state during fiscal year 2025, according to recently released figures.
The University of North Georgia’s (UNG) share of that totals roughly $850 million. UNG’s contribution reflects the institution’s role in supporting jobs, spending and growth across the state.
Capital outlays tied to design, construction and furnishing of facilities added further impact. For the system overall, those projects accounted for about $1.1 billion. At UNG, the figure was close to $6 million.
The counties that are primary beneficiaries of UNG’s contributions are Lumpkin, Hall, Dawson, Forsyth, White, Oconee, Clarke, Barrow, Madison, Jackson, Gwinnett, Fannin, Gilmer, and Union.
