Preliminary survey results Sunday confirmed an EF-1 tornado touched down in Paulding County late Saturday evening with maximum winds up to 110 mph.
The weather service says the twister touched down west of Sudie around 11:40 and continued northeast for over 11 miles through areas of Dallas and New Hope before lifting around 11:55.
There were no serious injuries reported in Georgia as a strong storm system move through the state Saturday night and early Sunday. Paulding and Carroll counties were the hardest hit areas.
That was the same system that brought unusually vicious and damaging weather across several states, spawning violent tornadoes, blinding dust storms and fast-moving wildfires over the weekend, leaving at least 39 people dead.
