Suspended TMU president won’t be returning

The Truett-McConnell University (TMU) Board of Trustees announced Friday morning that Dr. Emir Caner, the president of the school who was suspended earlier this year in the wake of a sex scandal at TMU, will not be returning.

“Following the presentation of the independent investigative findings of Richard Hyde to the Truett McConnell University Board of Trustees on Thursday, September 25th, the board has decided to part ways with Dr. Emir Caner,” the board said in a statement.

The Acting President, Dr. John O. Yarbrough, has been appointed Interim President and the board is appointing a committee to conduct a search for a new president.

The Board of Trustees is appointing a committee for the purpose of hiring a new president.

Dr. Caner held the post for 17 years.
