HALL CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE NEWS RELEASE:
“Michael Albert Miles, 58, of Hoschton, was charged on Thursday, Nov. 30, with aggravated assault after he pointed a handgun at a construction worker and fired the weapon in her direction at a location in the 1600 block of Friendship Road.
According to the preliminary investigation, Mr. Miles was upset with workers who had been working on a construction project near his home and had allegedly blocked his driveway. He initially became involved in a verbal argument with one of the workers, telling the worker he was going to retrieve his gun. As the worker was calling 911, she heard gunfire.
Deputies arrived at the scene and questioned Mr. Miles, the victim and a witness. They made the determination to arrest Mr. Miles, who resisted the deputies’ attempts to disarm and handcuff him. After a short struggle with the deputies, Mr. Miles was taken into custody and transported to the Hall County Jail.
Mr. Miles was charged with one count of felony aggravated assault and four counts of misdemeanor obstruction.
Mr. Miles had a first court appearance on Saturday, Dec. 2, where he was granted a bond of $12,000. He was released from custody the same day.”
