Heavy rains overnight in metro Atlanta caused flooded streets and damage, leading to closed lanes and power outages in some places.
Workers were clearing drains and flushing water out of affected areas early Thursday. Fox5 Atlanta reported drivers were being advised to exercise caution and avoid deep water.
The weather is expected to improve with sunshine Thursday and Friday, but another round of showers is forecast for Saturday, followed by stronger storms late Saturday night into Sunday morning.
Presidents’ Day on Monday is expected to be sunny and dry before the next weather system moves in.
