State Ethics Commission investigating four state lawmakers

The State Ethics Commission has launched an investigation in four state senators it says have failed to file campaign reports required by law.

The AJC reports that Sens. Derek Mallow, Colton Moore (pictured), Freddie Sims, and Kenya Wicks allegedly did not report campaign contributions, among other things, and the commission has subpoenaed their bank records. Mallow, Sims, and Wicks are Democrats, from Savannah, Dawson, and Fayette, respectively. Moore, a Republican, is from Trenton.

The Democrats issued a joint statement saying they are “fully committed to adhering to campaign finance laws and maintaining the highest ethical standards while in elected office.”

Moore declined to comment.
