Madison Ramsey of Lanier Christian Academy with STAR Teacher John Pae and STAR Student Parker White of Lakeview Academy with STAR Teacher Kaitlin Jameson are this year’s STAR students and teachers for the Hall County and Gainesville City School Systems.
The announcement was made at Tuesday’s Kiwanis Club of Gainesville meeting, continuing a longstanding tradition of paying tribute to STARs from each public and private school in the county.
All of the city and county high schools’ STAR Students and STAR Teachers were recognized and given a framed certificate, sponsored by the club.
The PAGE Student Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) program, now in its 68th year, is sponsored, administered, and promoted by the Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE) and the PAGE Foundation. To obtain the STAR nomination, graduating seniors must have the highest score on a single test date on the SAT and be in the top 10 percent or top 10 students of their class based on grade point average.
The University of North Georgia’s College of Education is hosting Georgia’s Region 2 STAR Students and STAR Teachers at this year’s Recognition Banquet March 9. Region 2 consists of 12 counties or school systems: Dawson, Fannin, Gainesville City, Gilmer, Habersham, Hall, Lumpkin, Pickens, Rabun, Stephens, Towns, White, and Mountain Education Charter.
The region winners will then compete for state STAR Student and Teacher.
