*A 6,000-gallon sewage spill was discovered Wednesday at Forsyth County’s Shakerag Water Reclamation Plant. County officials say the sludge spilled on the ground on county property, but a portion entered an unnamed tributary upstream of a pond on the property. It was the result of broken sample pipe caused freezing weather.

*24-year-old Romero Eugene Swearingen was being held in the Hall County Jail on $7,800 bond Wednesday night after being arrested Tuesday on six counts of Financial Transaction Card Fraud. A spokesman for the Gainesville Police Department (GPD) said Swearingen is charged with using another person’s card at two pharmacies. Capt. Kevin Holbrook did say much money was involved.
