UPDATE: The latest on the approaching storm, freezing temps

The weather service has again narrowed down the timeline for the arrival of tonight’s expected stormy weather. ORIGINAL STORY. POSTED 10 A.M. SUNDAY:

Most of north and central Georgia, including the Gainesville area, remains under a Slight Risk (Level 2 of 5), the weather service said in a Sunday morning update on the approaching storm system.

“… however, portions of west-central (tonight) and east-central (tomorrow morning) GA have been upgraded to an Enhanced Risk (Level 3 of 5) due to increasing instability potential,” the advisory says.

Level 2 means that there’s a chance for isolated storms that could produce a tornado, especially in southwest portions of the area. Also, large hail and damaging winds up to 70 mph.

The timing of all this is tonight through early Monday.
