S. Hall man arrested in early May facing new charges

A 32-year-old Flowery Branch man who was jailed two months ago on a number of fraud and ID theft charges has now been charged with arson following a two-month investigation into a car fire in the South Hall town.

FLOWERY BRANCH POLICE NEWS RELEASE:

“On May 2nd…Flowery Branch Police Officers responded to a vehicle fire occurring within the 5200 block of Chattahoochee Street.

Upon arrival, Officers observed a Toyota Scion fully engulfed in flames. Hall County Fire Services quickly responded and extinguished the burning vehicle. A nearby work truck also suffered damage because of the fire.”

Flowery Branch Police Investigators partnered with Hall County Fire Investigators to investigate the occurrence.

(They) determined the fire was intentionally set by Zachery Duane Russell, 32, of Flowery Branch. On July 1…Mr. Russell was charged with two counts of Arson in the 3rd Degree.”

Hall County Jail records show he was already in jail on a number theft and ID fraud charges. Russell is being held on bonds totaling $14,400.
