A road rage incident reported in the drop-off/pickup line at Deal Elementary School is being investigated by law enforcement authorities.
“We want to reassure families that a road rage incident involving adults is currently being addressed in the Deal Elementary parking lot,” the Hall County School District (HCSD) said in a Facebook post Thursday morning. “There are no weapons and no danger to students or staff. Police are on site handling the situation. Thank you for your patience as safety remains our top priority.”
A social media post by the apparent victim of the incident includes detailed information about what happened and includes a picture of the back of the offender’s vehicle. It says the offender yelled back that the victim was riding her bumper and used an expletive in making her point.
In addition, in one response to the school district’s post, there was this suggestion:
“There really needs to be merge lines drawn at the corner for car rider drop offs. I’ve had several people in the right lane not let us merge in from the left. The ones who dropped off at the beginning of the year are familiar with the setup because the school SRO was out there enforcing how it’s done. Both lanes ‘zipper’ merge at the corner into one right lane at the drop-off zone. New people to the drop-off line didn’t get that orientation and just see a solid center line with the left lane leading to the parking lot. Redrawing the lines to reflect actual usage would be helpful to all.”
