Record-setting day for pollen in Ga.

The peak of the pollen season is nor even here and Saturday was a record-setting day for pollen in Georgia, according to Atlanta Allergy & Asthma. The count reached 14,801, which means there were that many pollen grains per cubic meter of air.

That number broke the old record by a wide margin which was recorded in March 2012 – 8,740, the third highest on record.

The main culprits Saturday were Oak, Pine, Sweet Gum, Birch and Sycamore trees.

The season’s peak is not expected for another couple of weeks.
