(GA. NEWS NETWORK)

*Homicides are up significantly in Georgia’s prisons this year. The Department of Corrections reports 42 homicides through the first half of the year. That’s compared with 66 in all of 2024. These numbers tower over less than a decade ago, when homicides in Georgia prisons were in the single digits.

*The Koreans arrested Thursday at a Georgia Hyundai site are going home. South Korea is arranging release of their roughly 300 nationals ICE arrested at the construction site near Savannah. ICE arrested a total of 475 workers it believes are in the country illegally. South Korea said Sunday a charter plane will fly the South Koreans home after paperwork is complete.

*A home delivery meal service is under investigation for potentially delivering salmonella-contaminated food to customers. The Centers for Disease Control is tracking 16 cases of Salmonella across ten states, with two cases in Georgia and at least 7 hospitalizations. The outbreak may be more widespread than reported, as many cases go untested. WSB-TV reports that customers who received food from Metabolic Meals during the week of July 28 are advised to check for affected lot codes and discard the food. For more details and or to check for updates on the outbreak visit the CDC’s website.
