An employee of a Clermont pharmacy has been charged with the theft of prescription narcotics from the business.
Allison Lee Ann Layne, 48, of Murrayville, had been an employee of Woody’s Pharmacy on Dahlonega Highway for less than a month when the incident occurred.
According to the investigation conducted by investigators with the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) Special Investigations Unit (SIU), owners of the business became aware of missing bottles of medication from the pharmacy inventory.
A subsequent review of the store’s surveillance footage showed Ms. Layne remove various drugs from the pharmacy shelves, conceal them and then remove them from the store. The investigation determined Ms. Layne took a bottle containing 100 acetaminophen with codeine pills and a bottle containing 100 alprazolam pills. The theft occurred on Nov. 13.
Ms. Layne was taken into custody on Monday.
She remains at the Hall County Jail with no bond on felony charges of acquiring a controlled substance by misrepresentation/fraud/forgery/deception and possession of a Schedule III controlled substance.
