Oakwood manhunt ends in arrest of Atlanta man

A mid-morning manhunt in the Oakwood area Tuesday ended with the arrest of an Atlanta man, who police say fled into some woods in an attempt to escape police who were responding to a report of a domestic incident.

OAKWOOD POLICE NEWS RELEASE:

“(About 10:30) Officers responded to 7206 Overbrook Drive in reference to a domestic fight in progress. Upon arrival, the victim told officers that her boyfriend (Deandre Byrd) had physically attacked her, was armed, and had fled into the wood line. 

With the assistance of the Flowery Branch Police Department, Hall County Sheriff’s Office, and the Georgia State Patrol we were able to set-up a perimeter in the area. 

The actual presence of a handgun was never confirmed. 

After an extensive search in the area, the suspect was located in the apartment complex and taken into custody without incident…
