Taking it to the next level: An Extreme Heat Warning covers parts of middle Georgia today for heat indexes likely to exceed 110.
But it’s not much better for the rest of us, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). A Heat Advisory is in effect for the Gainesville area for “feels like” temperatures of over 105 this afternoon.
And it’s not just Georgia and the rest of the Southeast that are suffering. This heat wave has extended into the Midwest and Upper Midwest.
Extreme heat watches are out for eastern Nebraska, western Iowa and southern Minnesota. Heat indexes were expected to reach near 100 in many of those areas.
And an extreme heat warning is out for the St. Louis, Missouri, area through Tuesday evening, with highs around 99 and heat indexes around 110 forecasts for Monday and Tuesday.
Today, 110 million across the country are under some sort of heat advisory.
