NWS fine-tuning stormy weather forecast

Most of north and central Georgia, including the Gainesville area, remains under a Slight Risk (Level 2 of 5), the weather service said in a Sunday morning update on the approaching storm system.

“… however, portions of west-central (tonight) and east-central (tomorrow morning) GA have been upgraded to an Enhanced Risk (Level 3 of 5) due to increasing instability potential,” the advisory says.

Level 2 means that there’s a chance for isolated storms that could produce a tornado, especially in southwest portions of the area. Also, large hail and damaging winds up to 70 mph.

The timing of all this is tonight through early Monday.
