HALL CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE NEWS RELEASE:
“Law enforcement officers confiscated drugs worth an estimated $90,330 dollars on the street and arrested two suspects during a recent multi-agency investigation in Hall County.
The Hall County Sheriff’s Office, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), FBI Safe Streets Task Force and Gainesville Police Department carried out the operation on Sept. 13 and 14.
The investigation began during a traffic stop Wednesday morning, Sept. 13, on Interstate 985 north at the
exit 20 off ramp. Gainesville Police Officers charged the vehicle driver, Erika Laura Nava-Caballero, 40, of
Gainesville, with several traffic offenses, including DUI and driving without a license. Authorities seized
approximately 172 grams of methamphetamine, a handgun and multiple fraudulent IDs from the vehicle.
Nava-Caballero was arrested and additionally charged with trafficking methamphetamine, possession of
methamphetamine with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
On Thursday, Sept. 14, agents executed a search warrant at Nava-Caballero’s residence in the 3000 block of Heatherwood Drive. Law enforcement seized an additional 1,067 grams of methamphetamine and 18 grams of fentanyl from inside the home.
While carrying out the search, agents arrested Sergio Rodriguez-Rodriguez, 19, of Gainesville, who also lives at the residence. He is charged with trafficking methamphetamine and fentanyl, as well as possession of each drug with intent to distribute. Nava-Caballero faces the same charges, in addition to offenses from the previous day.
The combined street value of the methamphetamine seized from the house and vehicle is approximately
$86,730. Investigators estimate the street value of the seized fentanyl at $3,600.
Nava-Caballero and Rodriguez-Rodriguez each remain in the Hall County Jail without bond.”
