Motorist seriously injured in crash now facing 7 charges, some drug-related

A Jefferson man involved in a single-vehicle crash on Belmont Highway last fall has been taken into custody at the Hall County Jail on a list of drug and traffic offenses.

HALL CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE (HCSO) NARRATIVE:

“The accident occurred on Oct. 30, 2024 around 11 a.m. on Belmont Highway near Candler Road. Bobby Kenneth Nix, 61, was the sole occupant of a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu, which struck a tree after Mr. Nix traveled off the southbound lane of the roadway. Mr. Nix suffered serious injuries as a result of the crash.

During the investigation at the scene, the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) Accident Investigation Unit (AIU), with the assistance of uniform patrol deputies, discovered a quantity of methamphetamine (44.3 grams), less than an ounce of marijuana and glass smoking device in Mr. Nix’s vehicle. Investigators took warrants for Mr. Nix on the following charges:

·         DUI drugs/less safe

·         Possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute

·         Possession of marijuana (less than one ounce)

·         Possession of drug-related objects

·         Failure to maintain lane

·         Seatbelt violation

·         Tire requirement violation

Mr. Nix was arrested Wednesday, March 12, 2025, and he remains in the Hall County Jail with no bond at this time.”
