The Hall County Animal Shelter will be modifying its intake procedures beginning Monday while a new HVAC system installed. The work is expected to be finished by May.
“A new HVAC system is a much-needed upgrade to our facility,” Hall County Animal Services Director Trey Garcia said. “Not only will this new system provide adequate ventilation and fresh air throughout our building, but it will also contribute to a greater quality of care for our animals by providing higher air quality, less odor and a reduction in the spread of disease.”
The HVAC installation will temporarily cause the Animal Shelter to close portions of its facility so that the equipment can be installed. Since there will be limited space while the work is being completed, the shelter will only accept priority calls for its animal intakes, which includes animals that are injured, pose a threat to public safety (aggression, rabies, bite cases, injuries) and/or are in extenuating circumstances (evictions, welfare/hoarding cases, jail/hospital cases, etc.).
“We will continue to work toward our goal of providing excellent local government services to our community while we are limited on our intake services and will help those in need find alternative resources for animals that would typically be brought into our facility,” Garcia said. “This is a temporary operational change that is abundantly necessary to improve our shelter.”
The Hall County Animal Shelter will offer pet adoptions and vaccines like normal while the HVAC work is underway. For a list of current adoptable pets, visit the animal shelter online.
