*An Athens Kroger is cleaning up after a car plowed through the front of the store Tuesday morning. The car ended up scattering merchandise everywhere when it ended up in the self-checkout area, while also injuring four people. Athens-Clarke police are trying to pinpoint what happened to the driver to cause the accident. Repairs started almost immediately.
*A couple from Woodstock is accused of stealing more than one million dollars from Medicaid. Attorney General Chris Carr says the owners of the behavioral health center, Overcomers Day Services, submitted claims between 2017 and 2023 for services never performed. In all, they allegedly ripped off around one-point-four million dollars from the government. The two were indicted in DeKalb County last week on nearly two-dozen charges of Medicaid fraud.
*A moratorium on new data centers in DeKalb County is going to last even further. County commissioners voted Tuesday to extend the ban another six months so they can work on defining regulations for the projects. The board will be allowed to cut the moratorium off earlier if an ordinance is approved before then. Some rules being considered will define proximity to homes and county parks.
*Meanwhile, Coweta County is making rules for potential data centers. County commissioners approved a plan Tuesday night that regulates land and water usage, along with the building design. The county had halted data center construction until commissioners could create guidelines.
