*A baby taken from Clayton County Tuesday is safe. An Amber Alert was activated when the two-month-old was reportedly kidnapped by his father. Investigators say the man reportedly assaulted the mother before stealing her car and driving off with the infant. Police eventually tracked them down to Nashville, Tenn., where the father was arrested.
*A Conyers police lieutenant is on leave while he is under investigation for criminal charges. He turned himself in this week after the GBI began an inquiry into the use of donated property from a local business. Charges include theft by deception.
*One of Georgia’s state parks has more snakes than most in the country. World Atlas listed Skidaway Island State Park as one of the seven most-infested. Tidal marshes around the island and humid conditions are considered to be prime conditions to support a rich reptile environment. Eastern diamondbacks, copperheads, black racers and corn snakes are among the most popular.
