*ICE could soon be facing a lawsuit over a raid in south Georgia. Hundreds of South Korean nationals were arrested in September while they were training others at a battery plant connected with the large Hyundai site in Bryan County. The workers were held for several days before flying back to South Korea. ABC News reports close to 200 of the detained nationals are planning to sue ICE for human rights violations, unlawful arrest and racial profiling.
*Meanwhile, a Georgia congressman wants to send federal troops to Atlanta. Savannah Representative Buddy Carter sent a letter to Homeland Security Director Kristi Noem yesterday, saying ICE would help uphold the law. He cited a 45-percent increase in undocumented immigrants across the state in seven-years. There haven’t been any public talks about needing federal troops in the state capital until now.
*The Georgia Department of Community Affairs is setting rules for data centers across the state. The agency approved a process yesterday for Development of Regional Impact reviews so that the public will know more about the proposals. Any rural data center over 500-thousand-square-feet will be subject to a review.
