HCSO: Gville woman arrested on reckless conduct, child cruelty charges

A Gainesville woman was charged with second-degree child cruelty and reckless conduct after sheriff’s deputies discovered her in an intoxicated state in her home with four children under the age of 12.

HALL CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE (HCSO) NARRATIVE:

“On Saturday… just after 5 a.m., Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) deputies responded to a residence on Gilleland Extension after a child called 911 to report he was unable to wake his mother. Deputies made contact with the child, who led them to Rebeca Noemi Chavez, 27, who was passed out in a bathroom.  At the time, Ms. Chavez was the only adult in the home with the four children.

At the direction of the Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS), deputies turned over the children to relatives.

Ms. Chavez was charged with four counts of reckless conduct and one felony count of second-degree child cruelty. She remains in the Hall County Jail with no bond at last check (Monday afternoon).”
