Declaring “enough is enough,” a member of the Hall County state legislative delegation has introduced a bill in the House of Representatives that would put the option of the death penalty on the table for those caught sex trafficking is Georgia.
“There is nothing more evil or disgusting than trafficking human beings for sexual profit,” Rep. David Clark (R-Buford said Wednesday “An estimated 6.3 million people worldwide are victims of sex trafficking today, and approximately 49 to 50 million people are living in modern slavery based on recent global estimates.”
Clark noted that Atlanta is widely regarded as a major hub for sex trafficking in the country, particularly involving minors, and has often been cited as the number one trafficking city in the country.
“Enough is enough. It is time to bring the hammer down on this evil and protect the innocent. As Dietrich Bonhoeffer said, ‘Silence in the face of evil is itself evil. God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act.’
“It is time to speak up for the voiceless and make it clear that Georgia is not a safe haven for heinous acts. Evil has no home here.”
