Gville’s new Public Safety Training Complex dedicated

City officials and others gathered earlier this week for a dedication ceremony for the new Gainesville Public Safety Complex.

Located on Fulenwider Road in the Gainesville 85 Business Park, this approximately 15-acre campus with 15,600-plus square feet of training space will serve as a centralized hub shared by the Gainesville Fire and Gainesville Police departments, among other city departments.

Included are four state-of-the-art classrooms, which can be combined to create two larger classrooms; a large multipurpose room intended for meetings, ceremonies or additional training space; office spaces for support staff with room for growth; three-story burn tower; 20-target outdoor shooting range; virtual reality training room for scenario-based training; plus, a defensive tactics room.

Work began on the facility last Spring.
