A Gainesville man was arrested Monday at a shopping center in the 1500 block of Browns Bridge Road on a long list of drug charges, including trafficking of fentanyl and methamphetamine.
HCSO NARRATIVE:
“The Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) Special Investigations Unit (SIU) had been investigating suspected illegal narcotics activity involving Joseph Russell Harris, 37, for several months prior to Monday night’s arrest. When investigators became aware Harris might be at the shopping center, they traveled to the area and observed him exit one of the stores. Investigators made contact with Harris. An HCSO narcotics K9 team responded to the scene as well, and the K9 alerted to the presence of illegal drugs in Harris’ vehicle.
A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of the following illegal narcotics: 45 grams of fentanyl, 30 grams of methamphetamine, 19 grams of cocaine (15 grams of powder and four grams of crack) and 35 grams of marijuana. The street value of the narcotics was $11,200. In addition, investigators located two 9mm pistols and $3,890 in cash.
As a result, Harris was arrested and charged with the following felony crimes:
· Trafficking fentanyl
· Trafficking methamphetamine
· Possession of cocaine with intent to distribute
· Possession of marijuana
· Possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime
· Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon (two counts)
· Hold for Gwinnett County for probation violation
Harris remains in the Hall County Jail with no bond.”
