Gas prices in Gainesville are about a dime cheaper today compared to last Monday, according to AAA.
The price for a gallon of regular unleaded fell nine cents during the past seven days to an even $3.00. The statewide average is down eight cents to $3.06, and nationally, the decline was six cents to $3.33.
“There are now ten states with gasoline averages below $3 a gallon, which means thousands of retail outlets east of the Rockies are selling gas at similarly low prices,” AAA’s Andrew Gross says. “With hurricane season remaining weak and disorganized, this trend of falling pump prices will likely continue.”
