After reportedly assaulting two men with a gun, a Gainesville man has been charged in the 2024 murder of a disabled man.
Logan Ryan Plumley, 21, has been charged in the killing of John Tracy Hill.
Plumley’s trip to the jailhouse, took a dramatic turn earlier this week when police responded to a call for help in the 700 block of Jesse Jewell Parkway, where Plumley had reportedly pulled a gun on two men.
Earlier in the day, the men had become an alleged victim of Plumley’s in a road rage incident. The men were later confronted by Plumley, who was awaiting them at their vehicle. Plumley approached the men and pulled out a gun.
The victims saw firefighters in the area and yelled for help. Plumley immediately fled the area, but not before others could get his tag number and a vehicle description.
During the investigation into the gun incident, Plumley became a suspect in the November 2024 death of John Tracy Hill, a 64-year-old disabled man who lived in the same apartment complex and down the hall from Plumley on Green Hunter Lane.
Hill, who was wheelchair bound, was found dead in his apartment on November 16, 2024, after a welfare check. Police were called to check on him after family could not make contact after a doctor’s appointment. Police found Hill deceased in his apartment from sharp force injuries.
Chief Jay Parrish stated, “We will not let up. We will relentlessly pursue those who engage in violent criminal activity until they are held accountable”. Furthermore, Chief Parrish advised, “The Gainesville Police Department and our partners, such as the GBI, are committed to using every tool available to not only capture, but prevent violent criminals from terrorizing our community”.
