The Habersham County jailer who was fired last week and arrested Monday was “interacting with inmates in an inappropriate manner.”
That’s according to the GBI, which also said Wednesday that Alexander Hardaway, 30, Alto, made false statements to GBI agents during their investigation.
On Monday, the Habersham County Sheriff would only say that Hardaway fired “due to policy violations” based on an inmate’s complaint, with the GBI adding he was arrested “amid allegations of misconduct and initially charged with false statements and writings.”
The GBI said Wednesday that upon completion of the investigation, the case will be turned over to the Mountain Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
