Gas prices in Gainesville and the state were down again this past week.
The average for a gallon of regular unleaded in Gainesville is $3.34, six cents less that last Monday, according to AAA. The statewide average decreased by three cents to $3.39. The national average, meanwhile, is $3.65 compared to $3.67 a week ago.
“Domestic gas demand is pretty pokey at the moment, which is often the case in the runup to Memorial Day and the traditional start of summer driving season,” said Andrew Gross, AAA spokesman. “The recent national average price of $3.67 could be the peak until hurricane season is well underway. But as always, the wildcard will be the cost of oil, so stay tuned.”
