Suit filed in death of GHS baseball player

The parents of Jeremy Medina, the Gainesville High baseball player who died last fall following an on-field accident, have filed suit against the city school system.

Jeremy Medina died in December several weeks after he was struck in the head by a bat during a practice session.

Several school and school system personnel are named in the suit which alleges negligence in that the practice was not properly supervised.

The suit was filed in Hall County Superior Court and seeks more than $700,000 in damages.
