If you’ve always meant to make the trip to Rabun County to visit the Foxfire Museum but just never got around to it, this is your chance to experience a piece of their work right here in Gainesville.
NORTHEAST GEORGIA HISTORY CENTER NEWS RELEASE:
“Join us for Foxfire Day at the Northeast Georgia History Center on May 9 10:00-3:00 as Foxfire Museum brings Appalachian artisans, history, and hands-on tradition to our community. Guests can learn more about skills like blacksmithing, woodcarving, flintknapping, and more, while exploring Foxfire’s mission to preserve the stories, culture, and arts of the Appalachian Mountains.
Founded in 1966 as a student-created magazine documenting Southern Appalachian life, Foxfire grew into a beloved book series and later the Foxfire Village Museum. Today, their work continues to keep Appalachian traditions alive for future generations.
This is a wonderful event for families, lifelong learners, and anyone who loves Appalachian history and heritage.
