An early morning house fire in Forsyth County Friday killed one person, destroyed one house, and damaged three others. It happened at 9049 Fairlane Trail in the northeastern part of the county, according to county spokesman Russell Brown.
“The first arriving units encountered a single-family, single-story home fully involved in fire,” Brown said. “Fire suppression efforts were immediately begun, and a positive water supply was obtained from a nearby fire hydrant. Once the fire was under control, firefighters began searching the remnants of the building and quickly located the remains of one person.”
The victim’s name had not been released as of late Friday morning and the cause of death had not been determined.
The county fire marshal’s office and sheriff’s office are conducting the investigation along with the coroner’s office.
The three adjacent houses that were damaged suffered from “radiant heat,” Brown said.
