*A veteran of 21 years with DeKalb County Fire Rescue (DCFR) has died of injuries suffered while fighting a warehouse fire Monday. WSB-TV reports the department confirmed the death, saying in a statement, “DeKalb County Fire Rescue mourns the loss of a beloved veteran of our department, who passed away after dedicating 21 years of service. He succumbed to injuries sustained in a commercial structure fire.”
*A newborn found in a Columbus dumpster is expected to survive. The baby boy was rescued after someone heard him crying at a motel. Georgia News Network and WTVM-TV report 22-year-old Zinnia Hernandez admitted to investigators that she gave birth in the bathtub and left the baby in two bags in the dumpster for up to six hours. She faces a number of charges, including attempted murder.
*Georgia News Network reports protesters gathered outside the Hyundai mega-site near Savannah Monday to call for the abolition of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) following the largest ICE raid in the agency’s history. Nearly 500 mostly South Koreans were arrested.
