*A Chatham County EMT has been arrested after authorities say he was drunk while on the job. Authorities in Savannah say Carson McCluskey was on the scene of a death earlier this month when a firefighter told them McCluskey smelled of alcohol. Two officers confirmed the smell and asked McCluskey to take a breathalyzer test. He refused. Police arrested him after he declined to take a standardized field sobriety test. McCluskey works for Chatham Emergency Services, a community-based nonprofit.

*Walker County authorities are investigating how students got their hands on gummies containing kratom. Five Saddle Ridge Elementary and Middle School students were hospitalized on Wednesday after eating gummies. School officials say three of them remain in the hospital but are in stable condition. The DEA has kratom listed as a drug and chemical of concern.

*Passes to enter Georgia’s state parks will cost more soon. The Department of Natural Resources says rising maintenance and repair costs led to the decision to raise the price of a daily pass from $5 to $10. Annual passes will also increase to $70 from $50. More than 14 million people visited Georgia parks last year.
